AFO14 (20013) Rocket Rangers of Orlandia

Rocket Rangers of Orlandia was an Interactive Convention Experience at Anime Festival Orlando 14. The project included promotional materials, gaming assets and web content. During that year, I acted as Creative Director, overseeing the entire Orlandia project. During that year we not only produced short stage acts to convey the storyline to attendees, we also produced a serial radio drama in the vein of 50s science fiction entitled Sky Masterson and the Rocket Rangers, in which I played space pirate Captain Ketch. I constructed a costume and props for this character.

Rocket Rangers of Orlandia Logo
This is the logo that I designed, emulating the feel of a mid-20th century sci-fi radio show.
AFO "Astro Force Orlandia" Logo
The convention chair asked me to also design a logo for the con using the old brand logo with a sci-fi theme.
Orlandia Music Festival Go! Logo
During that year, AFO had a series of concert performances by bands that are part of the fan community, so I came up with a logo for the music festival using a popular net-speak acronym styled after Japanese kanji characters.
Rocket Rangers Poster
I designed this image to promote the interactive convention experience, in a retro science fiction theme with Art Deco sensibilities. This image was used as a 4x6 flyer which was handed out at other conventions, a 24x36 poster displayed outside the gaming tavern room in which the experience was played, as well as promotion on the web via Facebook.
NPC Badges
These badges were worn by non-player characters with whom players could interact during the experience. Astro Force Orlandia defended their colony on the moon from the Felixian invaders from mars, a war-like race of cat-people who saw Orlandians as a threat.
QR Quest Cards
As one of the quest activities available to players, we created these cards as a sort of scavenger hunt, placing them on floral picks throughout the convention space.
Skirmish: WBW Cards
As part of the combat mechanic for the experience, we decided to revisit the card game that we used in Skies or Orlandia. I updated the design of the deck in keeping with the retro sci-fi theme, and we also added a tactics mechanic which would augment the gameplay in various ways. These tactics cards were collectible, and could be earned by defeating certain NPCs. The base deck was also available for purchase to play after the convention.
Victory Credits
This is game currency that I designed, which players could collect for by doing quests, or defeating NPCs in games of Skirmish. These currency chits were printed on glossy 4x6 card stock and cut into individual pieces.
Commendations
Another collectible element for the experience was a series of achievements as 1-1/2' buttons.  These buttons could be earned by participating in the numerous activities offered during the experience.
